🎯 The Role

As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you will join Atlassian's unified R&D engineering group to maintain, evolve, and scale frontend web architectures and tooling. In this role, you will take technical ownership of key client-side initiatives supporting customers transitioning to the cloud, collaborating across cross-functional product teams to deliver fast, reliable, and delightful web experiences.

💼 What You'll Do

• Build clean, high-performance, and modular client-side code designed for long-term scalability and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and peer engineers to explore user pain points and ship robust technical solutions.
• Participate in detailed code reviews, produce technical design documentation, and tackle complex frontend bug investigations.
• Lead frontend engineering projects end-to-end, spanning initial architectural design, implementation, rollout, and operational monitoring.
• Guide, mentor, and support junior engineers to foster engineering excellence and technical growth across the pod.

✅ What You'll Need

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building web applications with JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS, and modern frameworks such as React.
• Proven track record of architecting, delivering, and supporting medium-to-large-scale frontend systems.
• Deep understanding of modern frontend workflows, including asset bundling, code linting, automated testing, and release automation.
• Practical experience with modern testing libraries and assertions (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Mocha).
• Strong grounding in Agile software engineering practices and a focus on writing durable, resilient code.

🌟 Nice to Have

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical background.
• Prior experience building large-scale SaaS or cloud collaboration platforms.
• Familiarity with enterprise-grade design systems and monorepo architectures.
