🎯 The Role

This Staff Engineer – Frontend (UI) role is a senior individual contributor position for someone who leads through expertise, execution, and influence rather than headcount. You'll drive the architecture and modernisation of Nextiva's web applications, own the shared design system, and set the engineering standard for frontend quality across the platform. The role is hands-on: you write production code, review PRs at depth, and shape how the team builds — with the option to grow toward deep frontend specialisation or engineering leadership.

• Monorepo tooling: Turborepo, pnpm workspaces, or Nx
• TanStack ecosystem (Router, Query, Form)
• Storybook for component development and testing
• Headless UI libraries: Base UI, Radix, Ark UI
• CI/CD pipelines for frontend delivery

💼 What You'll Do

• Lead the rebuild and modernisation of web applications to improve performance and user experience
• Define and evolve frontend architecture standards across a multi-package monorepo
• Build, own, and evolve shared design systems and component libraries used platform-wide
• Collaborate with product and design to translate UI/UX concepts into scalable, accessible interfaces
• Write clean, maintainable, high-performance React code and take end-to-end ownership of feature delivery
• Identify bottlenecks, debug complex issues, and optimise frontend performance at scale
• Review PRs with a focus on architectural patterns, accessibility, maintainability, and code quality
• Work on and improve CI/CD pipelines for frontend delivery
• Mentor engineers and provide leadership support to keep the team unblocked and high-performing

✅ What You'll Need

• 9–12 years of frontend development experience, ideally in product-based organisations
• Strong React expertise and solid command of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS fundamentals
• Strong TypeScript skills in strict mode — generics, type guards, no any
• Experience with monorepo tooling: Turborepo, pnpm workspaces, or Nx
• Hands-on experience building or contributing to a shared design system or component library
• Practical knowledge of Tailwind CSS or utility-first styling approaches
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
• Strong debugging skills and a track record of shipping performant, scalable frontend systems
• Deep understanding of the full product development lifecycle — from design to deployment

• Experience with React Native or mobile development
• Familiarity with TanStack Router, Query, and Form
• Experience building real-time or WebSocket-driven UIs — live messaging, presence, telephony
• Storybook-driven component development and testing
• Exposure to headless UI libraries such as Base UI, Radix, or Ark UI
• Comfort working across web, mobile, or browser extensions
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools for code generation, debugging, and testing
