The Walmart Business (B2B) group delivers software solutions empowering organizations to meet their purchasing, onboarding, operations, and procurement needs by leveraging Walmart’s nationwide fulfillment centers, stores, merchants, and technology.

As a Staff Software Engineer (Front End), you will architect scalable, resilient web systems for complex, high-traffic customer experiences, balance delivery speed with long-term maintainability, and raise the engineering quality bar across the organization.

This position is based at Walmart's Sunnyvale tech campus in Sunnyvale, California.

💼 What You'll Do

• Define and champion front-end architecture, building maintainable and scalable web systems for high-traffic retail journeys.
• Set and evolve engineering standards across component design, state management, testing, observability, and code quality.
• Partner with Product, UX, backend, platform, and data teams to translate ambiguous business problems into scalable technical roadmaps.
• Lead architectural reviews, mentor engineers across levels, and foster frontend engineering best practices.
• Evaluate emerging frontend technologies, prototype solutions, and eliminate technical debt and risk early.
• Own features end-to-end: from initial design and development through testing, release, observability, and production support.

✅ What You'll Need

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record leading architecture across multiple teams.
• Deep mastery of React, TypeScript, and modern client rendering paradigms.
• Strong systems-design background, including state isolation, caching, and frontend modularization.
• Expertise in web performance, browser networking, security, and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
• Experience designing clean integration contracts with REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional technical strategy.

🌟 Nice to Have

• Experience with micro-frontends or Webpack/Vite Module Federation.
• Familiarity with cloud-native platforms (GCP, Azure) and Node.js.
• Background building AI-assisted web experiences or enterprise design systems.
