🎯 The Role

The Vehicle Test & Data Platforms team is looking for a Frontend Software Engineer based in Fremont, CA to design and build the core tools used by vehicle engineers to capture, review, and manage structured test data. You will work in a high-leverage team alongside technical leads to build data-dense, reliable web applications that scale with Tesla's vehicle testing programs.

🛠️ Tech Stack

• Core: React, TypeScript, Next.js, Modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• State & Data: Client-side state management (Zustand, Context API), RESTful APIs, WebSockets
• Design Systems: Custom component libraries, Tailwind CSS, Design Tokens
• Tooling: Vite, Webpack, Testing Library, Git

💼 What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain the shared frontend layer (components, custom hooks, patterns) across vehicle testing applications.
• Develop complex forms, high-throughput tables, and interactive data visualizations that remain performant under heavy datasets.
• Work directly with vehicle engineers to understand testing workflows and turn operational feedback into polished UI tools.
• Implement robust state management and client caching strategies to maintain snappy, consistent application behavior.
• Champion frontend best practices, component modularity, and automated testing across the codebase.

✅ What You'll Need

• 3+ years of professional frontend software engineering experience.
• Strong mastery of React, TypeScript, and modern frontend architecture.
• Hands-on production experience with Next.js.
• Proven track record building complex, data-dense interfaces such as dashboards, complex forms, or data grid systems.
• Experience designing, building, or contributing to shared component libraries and design systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced hardware-software engineering environment.
