🎯 The Role

Anthropic is looking for a Staff Product Engineer to join the team building the consumer web and desktop experiences for Claude. In this role, you will define frontend technical direction, obsess over latency and interaction feel, and turn design ideas into production interfaces that millions of people interact with daily.

🛠️ Tech Stack

• Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Modern JavaScript
• Backend / Fullstack: Node.js
• Performance: Web performance profiling, bundle optimization, streaming interfaces
• Protocols: Server-Sent Events (SSE), WebSockets

💼 What You'll Do

• Define technical architecture and frontend standards for Claude's consumer products.
• Ship high-impact user-facing features across web and desktop platforms.
• Champion frontend quality, ensuring responsiveness, sub-second latency, and accessibility.
• Partner closely with product designers and PMs to translate concepts into tactile, delightful browser interactions.
• Continuously profile and optimize client-side bundle size, rendering performance, and network waterfalls.

✅ What You'll Need

• 5+ years of experience building consumer-facing web applications with high visual and interaction standards.
• Advanced proficiency with React, Next.js, and TypeScript, along with full-stack Node.js familiarity.
• Strong focus on product craftsmanship, latency reduction, and responsive design across all form factors.
• Deep understanding of browser internals, rendering cycles, and modern web APIs.
• Ability to thrive in a rapid-iteration, high-velocity product environment.

• Direct experience building real-time or streaming chat interfaces and LLM consumer products.
• Deep expertise in profiling and debugging complex client-side performance regressions.
• Experience in fast-scaling consumer product teams.
