🎯 The Role
The Local Mode team is rethinking where an API platform should live — right in the repository, on the filesystem, next to the code. Collections, specs, environments, flows, and mocks become plain files that move through branches, pull requests, and CI like any other source artefact. This frontend-focused engineering role is at the centre of that bet: you'll shape how developers interact with Git state, local files, branches, conflicts, and collaboration directly inside Postman.

💼 What You'll Do
- Design and build Git-native workflows for browsing local resources, reviewing changes, resolving conflicts, and sharing work
- Translate complex filesystem, Git, and cloud state into clear, trustworthy React interfaces
- Contribute to Node.js, Electron, workers, and asynchronous APIs when the product needs systems depth beyond the UI layer
- Define clear behaviour for long-running operations — progress indicators, cancellation, retries, partial success, diagnostics, and recovery flows
- Build responsive, accessible, keyboard-first experiences that remain performant across large repositories and deep file trees
- Write and maintain component, integration, and end-to-end tests, supported by instrumentation and real user feedback
- Prototype new ideas alongside product and design, helping define what Git-native and agentic API development should look and feel like
✅ What You'll Need
- 2–4 years of software engineering experience shipping high-quality production interfaces
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS
- Solid Node.js knowledge and familiarity with Electron concepts — processes, IPC, and workers
- Practical understanding of Git, filesystems, command-line workflows, and cross-platform development
- Experience managing complex asynchronous UI state without sacrificing performance, accessibility, or predictability
- A disciplined approach to testable, maintainable code
- Strong ownership mindset, clear communication, and comfort navigating ambiguous product problems
