🎯 The Role

As an SDK Engineer on the JavaScript team, you will own the front door to the entire Supabase ecosystem. You will build, design, and maintain the client-side JavaScript and TypeScript libraries that developers and AI coding agents use to interact with database queries, auth, storage, and realtime streams. This is a library-authoring role conducted entirely in the open through public GitHub repositories, issue discussions, and collaborative RFCs.

💼 What You'll Do

• Build and evolve official JavaScript/TypeScript client libraries for the Supabase platform.
• Maintain end-to-end type safety, ensuring database schema types flow naturally into client APIs for accurate autocomplete and inference.
• Guarantee cross-runtime stability across Node, Deno, Bun, browsers, Cloudflare Workers, and React Native environments.
• Maintain packaging health, handling dual ESM/CJS builds, export map configurations, and module resolution targets.
• Enhance realtime networking layers, handling persistent WebSocket connections, automated reconnects, and presence sync.
• Triage public community issues, review community pull requests, and author clear RFCs and migration documentation.

✅ What You'll Need

• Expert-level mastery of TypeScript, including advanced generics, conditional types, and mapped types.
• Hands-on experience authoring or maintaining published libraries with external downstream consumers.
• Thorough understanding of open-source project stewardship, issue triage, semver discipline, and changelog generation.
• Deep fluency in modern npm packaging mechanics, export maps, module formats, and common bundling failure modes.
• Rigorous testing habits spanning unit, type-level, and end-to-end integration tests against live backends.
• Clear, empathetic written communication for public documentation, issue feedback, and async collaboration.

• Experience building libraries compatible with serverless runtimes (Cloudflare Workers, Vercel Edge) and mobile platforms (React Native/Expo).
