🎯 The Role

The Data Product Experiences (DPE) team makes Stripe's merchant-facing data products intuitive, delightful, and actionable. We build client-side rendering engines, high-performance charting libraries, and interactive visualization interfaces that handle high-throughput streaming telemetry and real-time merchant analytics.

In this role, you will architect and build client-side data rendering engines from scratch to visualize tens of thousands of data points smoothly without cognitive load or visual fatigue.

This is a full-time, fully remote role within the United States.

🛠️ Tech Stack

• Core Frameworks: React, modern TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS/Sass
• Data Visualization: D3.js, Recharts, SVG, HTML5 Canvas, WebGL
• Client Architecture: Streaming telemetry state management, client-side caching, rendering pipeline optimization
• Design & Systems: Stripe Design System, reusable charting primitives, typography and data density balance

💼 What You'll Do

• Partner with designers and product managers to prototype, build, and ship interactive analytics dashboards across the Stripe Dashboard.
• Contribute to Stripe’s core design system by developing scalable, reusable visualization components and charting standards.
• Design frontend integration strategies and robust API contracts to enable seamless adoption of analytics components across Stripe product teams.
• Optimize rendering performance and state management for web applications handling large datasets, real-time telemetry, and high-density visual components.
• Champion accessibility (a11y) standards for interactive charts and graphs, performance profiling, and synthetic monitoring.

✅ What You'll Need

• 2+ years of relevant web front-end development or creative technology experience in a product-driven company.
• Advanced experience with React, TypeScript, and modern web application architecture.
• Demonstrated experience building interactive web charts and visualizations using tools like D3.js, Recharts, SVG, Canvas, or WebGL.
• Strong eye for data density, visual-perceptual hierarchy, and ergonomic developer UX.
• Deep experience designing applications that perform seamlessly across modern browsers and screen dimensions.

• A design portfolio or codebase showcasing interactive dashboards, custom charting engines, creative tools, or design systems.
• Understanding of formal design principles including typography, layout, color theory, and visual proportion.
• Experience with real-time data fetching strategies, WebSockets, or client-side worker architectures.
