Snowflake runs a cloud data platform that enterprises use to store, query and share data and to build AI applications. Snowsight is the web application through which most customers use the platform, so its speed directly shapes the customer experience.

🎯 The Role

This staff-level engineer sits in the Apps & Experiences platform group and takes ownership of frontend performance across Snowsight. You will define the strategy, build the measurement and guardrail tooling, and help every product team treat speed as a default part of quality.

💼 What You'll Do

• Set performance goals for Snowsight based on real user data, including Core Web Vitals and custom interaction timings
• Stand up monitoring, dashboards, bundle analysis and CI regression alerts so every team can see and act on performance
• Track down app-wide slowdowns in loading, React rendering, data fetching, caching and big-table rendering
• Tune delivery through smarter chunking, tree-shaking, CDN caching and resource hints
• Advise product teams on fast architectures for new features and coach engineers on performance habits
• Bring the frontend perspective into cross-org decisions on APIs, services and caching

✅ What You'll Need

• At least 8 years in software engineering, with deep web performance work on large applications
• Expert-level React, TypeScript and JavaScript, including how React renders and how to debug slow React code
• Solid grasp of how browsers render and schedule work, plus hands-on profiling in DevTools
• Experience running real-user and synthetic performance monitoring at scale
• Strong knowledge of bundlers, code splitting, lazy loading, caching headers and resource hints
• Experience rendering very large datasets with virtualization, canvas/WebGL or incremental rendering
• Clear communication and the ability to set direction across several teams
• Background in platform or infrastructure work where other engineers are your customers

🌟 Nice to Have

• Knowledge of server-side, streaming or edge rendering and their performance effects
• Familiarity with browser engine internals (V8, Chromium, WebKit)
• Contributions to web performance standards or open-source performance tools
• Experience with data-heavy UIs such as query editors, result grids, dashboards or notebooks
