🏢 About Cerby
Cerby is a security company founded in 2020, backed by leading investors, focused on extending security perimeters to disconnected applications. They provide identity automation and eliminate manual processes, addressing significant blind spots in enterprise security.
🎯 The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Extensions Team at Cerby, you will be responsible for owning and scaling the core browser extension that powers Cerby's platform. This critical component allows users to manage application passwords, autofill credentials, and authenticate via passkeys and federated identity providers across various sites. The role involves developing a cross-browser Manifest V3 product for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, with a strong emphasis on security, performance, and user experience. You are also expected to actively integrate AI-assisted tools into your development workflow.
🛠️ Tech Stack
- Core: React, TypeScript
- Styling: Utility-first CSS (e.g., TailwindCSS)
- Browser Extensions: Manifest V3 (service-worker model, content scripts, message passing, cross-browser delivery to Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari), Native messaging
- Frontend Fundamentals: Browser API, client-side storage (localStorage, IndexedDB, chrome.storage), networking (fetch/XHR), performance optimization
- APIs: Designing, consuming, and optimizing REST APIs, efficient data-fetching and caching (e.g., TanStack Query)
- Security: Frontend security (XSS, CSRF, CORS, CSP), Modern authentication and identity (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, WebAuthn, FIDO2, passkeys)
- Tooling/Practices: PNPM workspace governance, Testing (unit, integration, component), Observability (metrics, traces, logs; OpenTelemetry/Datadog), Agile/CI-CD
