🎯 The Role

As a Software Engineer with a frontend focus, you'll be a key contributor to Pearson's Credly and Faethm platforms while also influencing broader frontend engineering standards across the organisation. This is a fully remote, hands-on role with real architecture ownership — you'll help shape how Pearson builds and scales frontend applications globally.

💼 What You'll Do

• Design and build scalable React applications using TypeScript and modern JavaScript
• Define frontend architecture patterns and modular component structures that work across teams
• Build and maintain shared UI libraries, tools, and frameworks
• Optimise applications for performance, accessibility, and long-term reliability
• Integrate frontend interfaces with backend services via RESTful APIs
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering quality and best practices

✅ What You'll Need

• 5+ years of professional frontend development experience
• Strong production experience with React, TypeScript, and ES6+ JavaScript
• Experience with state management using Redux or a comparable library
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture, design patterns, and performance optimisation
• Solid HTML, CSS, and responsive design fundamentals
• Experience consuming RESTful APIs
• A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams

🌟 Nice to Have

• Experience with micro-frontends or large-scale frontend platforms
• Exposure to PostgreSQL or Elasticsearch
• Experience building Progressive Web Apps (PWAs)
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails
• Interest in accessibility standards and inclusive design
