🎯 The Role

We're hiring a Senior Product Design Engineer to own core product surfaces end to end, from the first sketch to production-grade components running in the browser. You are a product designer at your core who has evolved into design engineering, and code is where you do your best design work.

🛠️ Tech Stack

• Core: React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS
• Component Libraries: Base UI, Radix, coss ui
• AI Tooling: Claude Code, Cursor, v0
• Design Systems: Tokens, spacing, states, dark mode, motion

💼 What You'll Do

• Own core product surfaces from concept through production-ready components
• Build and test working prototypes in code with AI tooling
• Hand off primitives that product engineers use directly
• Design, build, and own your own components instead of relying on third-party libraries
• Continually improve the coss ui component library
• Keep the design system honest: tokens, spacing, states, dark mode, motion
• Apply motion with intent and restraint
• Own the outcome from hypothesis to implementation
• Hold the accessibility bar: keyboard paths, focus management, semantics, contrast, motion preferences
• Sweat the last 10%: empty states, error copy, loading behavior, motion
• Work in the open with the Head of Product and Design Engineer
• Write your thinking down for async communication

✅ What You'll Need

• A product designer at core who has evolved into design engineering
• Exceptional craft and engineering ability: HTML, CSS, TypeScript, React
• Build and own beautiful design-engineered components
• Deep expertise in headless primitive composition (Base UI, Radix, or similar)
• Strong grasp of motion design principles in UI
• Daily use of AI tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, v0)
• Deep familiarity with web standards and platform primitives
• Real design systems experience: built and maintained one
• Real accessibility knowledge: WCAG, ARIA, assistive tech
• Understanding of architecture: APIs, data models, state, constraints
• Collaborative by default: show unfinished work, take and give critique
• Strong written communication (clarity > formality)
• High trust, high autonomy mindset; thrives async without going quiet

🌟 Nice to Have

• Open-source contributions and publicly available side projects
• Familiarity with Cal.com, scheduling, calendaring, or timezone/recurrence rules
• Working knowledge of locale- and time-aware APIs like Intl.DateTimeFormat
