🎯 The Role
Synthesia is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to co-own the design system every product team builds on. This is a hands-on engineering role: the primary output is high-quality component code and the tooling around it. The defining challenge is making the foundation AI-friendly — a design system that both people and AI agents can build with, staying on-brand, accessible, and correct by construction.

💼 What You'll Do
- Build, scale, and evolve the component library, design tokens, and documentation
- Extend the system for AI-assisted development, with Storybook as the backbone and machine-readable interfaces (e.g. MCP) layered on top
- Design component APIs that resist misuse, for AI and human developers alike
- Make components accessible by default and verify them with keyboard and screen reader
- Own the developer experience: clear docs, versioning, and migration paths
- Implement theming, white labelling, and localization/RTL support
✅ What You'll Need
- At least five years as a software engineer, including three at senior level, building frontend platforms
- Expert HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript with strong React
- Component API design, versioning, and the developer experience of shared libraries
- Solid responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and web performance
- Accessibility as part of your definition of done (WCAG 2.2 AA / EN 301 549)
- Strong craft, attention to detail, and clear communication

- A strong design sensibility
- Experience implementing multi-brand theming in production
- Localization and internationalization, including RTL
