Quick Take

Senior Frontend Developer role at Wordware in San Francisco (Onsite). Looking for 4+ years of experience with React, TypeScript, and high-craft UI/UX to build an AI personal assistant for knowledge workers. $30M seed-backed team (YC, Spark Capital, Felicis) with direct TechTree application.

🏢 About Wordware

Wordware is an AI-native team building an intelligent personal assistant for knowledge workers—delivering an experience closer to "Cursor for knowledge work" than a conventional chatbot. The platform deeply understands user context, autonomously prioritizes workflows in the background, and outputs supervision-ready artifacts.

Based in San Francisco, Wordware has raised $30M in seed funding led by Spark Capital, Felicis, and Y Combinator, marking one of the largest seed rounds in YC history. The team consists of high-agency builders, technical founders, and former CTOs.

🎯 The Role

Wordware is looking for a Senior Frontend Developer to own the frontend of its core product. In this role, you will ship interfaces that feel instant, intuitive, and meticulously crafted even when coordinating complex distributed operations. You will not just execute on design specs; you will actively shape product mechanics, interaction design, and UI architecture.

🛠️ Tech Stack

  • Core: React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3
  • Architecture & State: Component architecture, context, dedicated state stores, memoization patterns
  • AI & Modern UX: Streaming responses, progressive disclosure, optimistic UI updates
  • Advanced Systems (Bonus): Multiplayer sync (Y.js, Automerge, CRDTs), local-first sync, service workers

💼 What You'll Do

  • Own and build user interfaces that feel instant, responsive, and delightful to use daily.
  • Implement polished UI states, keyboard navigation, fluid animations, and comprehensive error handling.
  • Collaborate across the full stack—from database routes to stateful React components—to ship features end-to-end.
  • Prototype, iterate, and deploy rapidly without waiting for pixel-perfect specifications.
  • Establish architectural patterns, performance benchmarks, and component standards for the engineering team.

✅ What You'll Need

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience with deep specialization in frontend web applications.
  • Strong portfolio of shipped, complex web applications running in production.
  • Advanced mastery of React: component lifecycles, memoization, state management, and performance tuning.
  • Keen visual instincts and product intuition to make interaction design decisions independently.
  • US work authorization or O-1 visa eligibility, based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.

🌟 Nice to Have

  • Experience building interfaces for generative AI tools (handling streaming, uncertainty, and non-deterministic states).
  • Background in real-time collaborative applications using CRDTs (Y.js, Automerge).
  • Experience with local-first architectures and offline sync strategies.
  • Prior experience as a founding frontend engineer at an early-stage startup.
