🎯 The Role

New Relic is seeking a Lead Frontend Engineer to provide strategic and technical leadership within a fast-growing team. This role focuses on leading frontend initiatives across Log Management, including AI-driven innovations (Logs Intelligence) and new user experiences for Log Compliance and Log Ingestion. A solid backend background is crucial for developing supporting APIs and occasional backend contributions.

🛠️ Tech Stack

Core technologies include React and TypeScript, with proficiency in hooks, state management, and component-based architecture. Experience with frontend unit testing and automated end-to-end testing using frameworks like Playwright is required. Bonus points for Java, NodeJS, or Python for backend API development, and familiarity with streaming platforms like Kafka and distributed systems.

💼 What You'll Do

You will lead the development and maintenance of customer-facing UIs for high-throughput data streaming systems. This includes developing Java-based backend services and APIs that feed log management user experiences. You'll participate in on-call rotations, leverage AI tools to enhance development, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to code reviews and mentoring.

✅ What You'll Need

You should have 8+ years of software engineering experience, specializing in frontend but with a strong practical backend background. Expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern AI tools for efficiency and feature implementation is essential. Proficiency in frontend unit and E2E testing (e.g., Playwright) and excellent communication skills are also required.

Experience with Java, NodeJS, or Python for backend API development, ability to navigate complex backend systems, familiarity with streaming platforms like Kafka, understanding of highly distributed systems, experience with high data throughput products, and previous involvement in site reliability or maintaining complex streaming pipelines.
