🎯 The Role

As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing intuitive and elegant user experiences that empower KoBold's diverse team of geologists, geophysicists, geochemists, and data scientists. This role involves owning and enhancing existing web applications, architecting new tools for complex 2D/3D geospatial visualizations, and championing modern frontend best practices to standardize UIs and accelerate deployment.

• Core Frontend: React, Angular, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Data Visualization: D3, Leaflet
• Tooling & Platforms: Node.js, Cypress, Selenium, Docker, AWS ECS, Kubernetes
• Backend Exposure (for integration): Python web frameworks (Django, Panel, Flask)

💼 What You'll Do

• Design and build intuitive and elegant user interfaces for internal tools.
• Take ownership of existing web applications, focusing on data upload, discovery, search, and visualization.
• Collaborate closely with scientists to architect and implement new tools for interactive 2D/3D geospatial visualizations, plotting, and data labeling.
• Drive the adoption of frontend best practices and modernize the existing tech stack to improve UI standardization, prototyping speed, and application deployment.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers within the team.
• Establish and maintain automated testing systems for frontend UIs.

✅ What You'll Need

• Proven experience in architecting, developing, and maintaining complex frontend applications that deliver rich user experiences.
• A track record of writing production-quality code that is correct, performant, scalable, and extensible.
• Proficiency with data visualization libraries such as D3 and Leaflet.
• Strong experience with modern JavaScript tools, including Node.js, TypeScript, React, and Angular.
• Familiarity with modern deployment strategies and cloud technologies.
• Experience with Python web frameworks like Django, Panel, or Flask, indicating an ability to work across the stack or integrate effectively.
• Solid foundation in classic frontend development (HTML, CSS).
• High intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn about mineral exploration, including a willingness to work directly with geologists in the field.
• Adaptability and excitement to tackle a wide range of problems in a dynamic environment, embracing new technologies and scientific concepts.
• A product-oriented mindset, focused on building technical solutions that directly achieve business objectives.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues across various departments.
