🎯 The Role
PayPay India is looking for a Frontend Engineer to join the payment systems team in Gurugram. In this role, you will design and engineer payment interfaces where transaction integrity, latency, and reliability are paramount.
You will implement robust micro-frontend architectures, contribute to enterprise design systems, and partner with backend engineers to evolve BFF APIs using NestJS and Node.js.
🛠️ Tech Stack
- Frontend Core: React, Vue, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, Modern CSS
- Architecture: single-spa, Micro-frontends, Webpack, i18n, Storybook
- Middleware & BFF: NestJS, Express, Node.js
- Infra & Tooling: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, GitHub Actions
- Observability: Sentry, Kibana, New Relic, Web Vitals monitoring
💼 What You'll Do
- Deliver user-facing payment flows end-to-end with modular components, clear separation of concerns, and deterministic state transitions.
- Build and maintain reusable UI patterns across the PayPay design system using Storybook, emphasizing accessibility and responsive layouts.
- Implement resilient API integration patterns including caching, optimistic updates, request retries, and comprehensive error handling.
- Eliminate client-side performance bottlenecks (virtualization, memoization, debouncing) and prevent asynchronous race conditions.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, using Sentry, New Relic, and Kibana to diagnose and resolve production regressions.
- Gradually contribute to backend-for-frontend (BFF) layers using NestJS and Express to streamline client-server data fetching.
✅ What You'll Need
- 4–6 years of professional frontend engineering experience delivering large-scale production web applications.
- Strong fundamentals in JavaScript and TypeScript with production mastery of React or Vue.
- Proven ability to perform Low-Level Design (LLD) for frontend features—defining module boundaries and interfaces.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and runtime complexity relevant to web performance.
- Practical experience with frontend observability, testing frameworks (Jest/Vitest), and modern build pipelines.
- Experience utilizing AI and LLM developer tools in day-to-day coding workflows.
🌟 Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with micro-frontends (single-spa) or distributed frontend systems.
- Familiarity with NestJS or Node.js server-side rendering (SSR) architectures.
