🎯 The Role

Mercari India is seeking a Frontend Engineer to join its engineering hub in Bengaluru. In this role, you will be responsible for developing high-performance web applications that power Mercari's marketplace platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in India and Japan, designing clean UI architecture and building resilient client-side features using modern web technologies.

💼 What You'll Do

• Architect, build, and maintain responsive web interfaces for Mercari's marketplace products.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers across Bengaluru and Tokyo to deliver smooth end-user experiences.
• Implement reusable UI components, adhere to best practices for performance and scalability, and maintain cross-browser compatibility.
• Integrate frontend services with backend GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Write unit and end-to-end integration tests using Cypress and modern testing frameworks to ensure high code quality.
• Proactively identify bottlenecks, optimize frontend asset delivery, and enhance client-side rendering speed.

✅ What You'll Need

• 2 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience focusing on frontend web development.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, and Redux.
• Solid understanding of web fundamentals, including HTML5, CSS3, browser rendering, and DOM manipulation.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable, high-traffic consumer web applications.
• Practical experience with Git version control and collaborative workflows.
• Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborating with distributed, multicultural teams.

🌟 Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with GraphQL and Apollo Client.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS.
• Experience with CI/CD automation pipelines (CircleCI, GitHub Actions).
• Contributions to open-source software or technical community projects.
